44 Quiet light

As a boy, I lived many years in the northernmost part of Maine.  Long, cold, snowy winters punctuated with a few short months of spring masquerading as summer.

When I reminisce about the 'quiet light' moments in my life, I'm always transported back to the Maine woods.    Gentle light streaming through a deep woods canopy.  Rippling streams teaming and bubbling through moss covered streambeds glistening where rays of light cut through and cloudy light diffuses into dappled bursts on pine needle tapestries.  I am in search of expressing those moments on film (or at least on a computer monitor).

Thomas Kinkade has made a reputation for capturing those gentle light moments in his paintings.  Heavenly scenes.  Peaceful and tranquil.   Simple and innocent.

Today's experts will tell you to keep it simple but too often they are referring to simplicity of the elements.  Minimalism.  There's a difference between simple elements and simple expression.  huh? ... what the heck does that mean!?!  The image above has a gillion elements but is just a simple road going ... well ... where?  In hindsight, I should've put myself in the picture walking the road.  Next time.

Hey ... have you ever had the artistic blues?  Check out this video clip that Zack Arias made for Scott Kelby's blog.  Oh ... but hide all your knives. Just kidding.  Zack's video is very noire but will resonate with every person who desires to contribute something brand new to the world.  Something no one else would (dare I say - could?) have made.  And something greatly appreciated.

Zack makes an incredibly endearing comment ... that the ten best photographers are out there ... and don't even know they are.  He says it much better here ...

Peace and joy,
Glen

Very beautiful. I love ways like this, have ever loved them since childhood. They are an archetype for ... for what?

Yes ... an archetype ... a common thread through literature. The medieval forest. The secret pathway. :))
